YPSS: Love Art

AZITA

Azita tells the story of a young refugee girl coming to the UK. It is based on stories from several of those involved in the production. The production was facilitated by adults but the young people wrote, scheduled, starred in, filmed and edited the film. It was made possible through First Light with support from the Lottery Fund and managed by Bandbazi.

'Azita' was nominated for a First Light Award in ‘The Young Voice Award’ category march 2011, the group is judged by Sienna Miller (GI Joe, Factory Girl), Kwame Kwei Amah (writer Elmina’s Kitchen, actor Fade to Black), Dougray Scott (Enigma, Mission Impossible 2) against three other films from Somerset, Belfast and the West Midlands.

PRESS ON WAR

CHANGE THEATRE was developed by 3 young people with support from Somerset Racial Equality Council to raise awareness around global issues through theatre, photography, dance, art and film.

PRESS ON WAR was written, developed, performed and filmed by young people for young people. The discussions which led to this film were based around the media and it's focus on superficial issues when issues of real importance are developing throughout the world.

KAMRAN'S STORY

The story of a teenager's life in Afghanistan and his journey to the U.K.
This is one of four films made during August 2008 as part of the Media Box funded project 'Home by Home'.

The films were made by young unaccompanied asylum seekers aged between 14-17 years of age. The young people came from countries including Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and China. The films were all made during a 5 day film making production period. The young unaccompanied asylum seekers from the center produced all the scripts, designs, models, animation and sound for the films.

The project was managed by KRAN at the Canterbury riverside community center, UK. The films were produced under the supervision of Animate and Create.
